My interest in flexibility was sparked when I was 14 years old and began martial arts. Since then I have become a certificated fitness trainer and Licence massage all with the goal of understanding how to develop higher levels of flexibility.
One of the things I've learned from flexibility training is that hyper aggressive stretching techniques only caused me more problems in the long run. Unlike cardio and strength training which can tolerate the no pain no gain mentality to a degree, releasing the tension from my body requires me to have a lot more sensitivity and gentle approach.
The methods I use to release this tension is called Myofascial Release and Myofascial Stretching. Myofascial Release is a gentle skin to skin technique administered by another person that uses sustained pressure to cause permanent change to the deeper tissues. Myofascial stretching is a self administered gentle stretch that holds the position for several minutes to cause permanent change to the persons range of motion. Based off of my experience these techniques are far more superior to any stretching method I have used before. Because of this, it is my goal to offer these modalities to anyone interested in developing their flexibility.
