John F. Barnes Myofascial Release (JFB-MFR)

John F. Barnes Myofascial Release (JFB-MFR) is a manual Manipulation technique that uses gentle sustained pressure to slowly release the lays of fascia. Fascia is a connective tissue that covers everything in the body all the way done to the cellular level and forms bumps and adhesion based off of out experiences such, aka. trauma and habits.

Benefits of JFB-MFR:
The major focus of my work is to soften tissue and increase flexibility. However, testimonies of the benefits of JFB-MFR are quite vast. To find out more visit myofascialrelease.com case studies.

What to expect with JFB-MFR:
Myofascial release sessions start with a visual assessment of the body. Visual assessments are best done with as much skin showing as possible. Men are advised to where athletic shorts. For women shorts and a sports bra.

The actual session consist of long sustained pressure over areas that are hot, hard, tender, and held until the tissue releases. In order to do this effectively therapist hands may have to be stuck underneath the clients clothing to properly stretch the tissue (i.e. upper thigh, glutes, tail bone, chest, or sternum). Skin to skin contact is absolutely vital in order to feel each tissue layer release. Written Permission will be required before the session begins, and verbal permission will be asked before accessing the area for the first time. If client is still uncomfortable with accessing the area attempts to work around the clients clothing will be made, but this may limit the effectiveness of the therapy.

Due to the need for visually assessing the client's reaction to the treatment draping is not generally used for this treatment as well.
